The 18 volt PS145 battery pack is almost identical in physical appearance to 18 volt DeWalt DW9099, DC9096, and DC9099 batteries. One only needs to grind or cut off the plastic alignment notch and the battery snaps right into drills, recip-saws, circ-saws, flashlight, and YES even in the battery charger. FAIR WARNING their is no thermistor in this battery pack. The third lead off to the side is tacked on to a battery packed midway in to give a secondary voltage reading from another negative terminal. It is not necessary to move this terminal and theirs no need to solder or re-wire or glue anything. The batteries inside are NIcd and are of a Short C-cell design physically much like the inside of DC-9099 but with a 1/4" tall plastic plate raising their height inside the pack giving the appearance of having tall batteries like inside the DW9099. This battery does not last as long as a DeWalt battery pack DW9099 but neither do the DC9099s. It does however get the work done. I am in plumbing myself and I use it as a fine spare with my "Sawzall", drill, flashlight, and charger. I do recommend letting it cool whether it be heat from the sun, or from use before using it as again THEIR IS NO THERMISTOR inside for overheat protection which can lead to failures like bursting, leaking, etc. or just plain damage.

I have to agree here. I've had one of these Firestorm 12V Drills for about 3 years. The chuck does tend to have to be re-tightened sometimes, the charger died suddenly and I got another one. Then one of the two batteries started to act funny, like I would charge it up for an hour and then it runs slow and any effort you give it, it dies. I came here today with the idea of maybe getting a new second battery. We all know the advantage of having two batteries. That was why I got this in the first place, but now after reading several familiar experiences, I've changed my mind. I think I'll skip B & D for my next power tool purchase. I do have a corded one that works fine thank goodness, but enough is enough. Next time I'm going with a brand I can get parts for a whole lot easier first of all. I have used Craftsman in the past and had better luck than this. One nice thing, at least where I live, is that I can go to a Sears outlet that sells refurbished power tools & accessories. If they don't have a part in stock, you order it and it is shipped to your home. I will also consider Makita or DeWalt for example too.

Just a heads up. The B&D PS120 Fire Storm 9.6-Volt replacement battery



DOES NOT FIT out of the package into a DeWalt 952 drill/screwdriver.



BUT ... I cut a 1/16" x1/16" notch with a utility knife into the seating area on the DeWalt drill to accommodate the extra guide on the battery.



(After insert adjustment, battery works fine in drill and a good price; I would have rated 5 except for the adjustment needed. I'm ordering a second B&D battery to have on hand ... both my 10 year old original DeWalt batteries had died.)

i found that the batteries i had were still good, my problem was the battery charger. i didn't realize that the charger was failing. i now have four good batteries since i purchased a new charger.my only suggestion would be to have the warning about using the charger for three consecutive hours should be permanently noted on or fixed on the charger.
